A comprehensive diagnosis should be made before any kind of therapy is applied. At the Arcadia Clinic, this is done using both old-established and state-of-the-art methods. We try to get as clear a picture as possible of the various organ systems and the way they function, even taking into account mental and emotional aspects. The therapy for the respective patient is determined based on the results of the diagnosis.
After an initial consultation and a physical examination, we normally first perform blood, urine, and stool tests. These are supplemented by blood pressure measurement, ECG, and testing of lung function. In addition, we have a modern color Doppler ultrasound machine used to depict the abdominal organs and the thyroid gland.
These methods are extremely effective, also benefitting people who want to undergo a thorough medical checkup and have the state of their organism and health examined. We also use other testing methods that significantly expand the spectrum of possibilities of modern diagnostics. We will now present them to you.
DARK FIELD MICROSCOPY/LIFE BLOOD ANALYSIS
We primarily use dark field microscopy to test vitality. Dark field microscopy is a special variant of light microscopy which enables us to view especially transparent and low-contrast images without any prior staining or preservation.
With dark field microscopy, human blood can be examined while it is still “alive.” This is extremely impressive for patients, since the screen on which the investigation (with dark field microscopy) is displayed offers them a direct glimpse of what is going on in their body.
What we can learn from this and what not
When we examine patients with the dark field microscope, we do not make direct diagnoses. We cannot furnish particulars about the number of different blood cells, but we can gain important qualitative information about the body’s functional status. Normally, red blood cells float alone in serum because they have a strong negative charge and thus repel one another. With chronic illnesses, and with cancer, the red blood cells clump together easily, causing what are known as rouleaux phenomena. This is an indicator of diminished vitality; the negative charge in the cell membranes is weakened. After successful treatment, this phenomenon usually disappears quickly and safely.
The size and mobility of white blood cells can be assessed well. Even after just one treatment, for example with hyperthermia, laser therapy or magnetic field therapy, significant changes in the mobility of the leucocytes can be observed. The size and mobility of white blood cells can be assessed well. After just one therapeutic application, e.g. with hyperthermia, laser therapy or magnetic field therapy, clear changes in the mobility of the leucocytes can almost always be shown. In addition, statements can be made about protein precipitation in the blood, e.g. as evidence of inflammatory processes, acid crystal deposits, other waste deposits, etc.
Simple examination procedure
Dark field microscopy is very simple and can be repeated as often as required. For the dark field microscopy, only one drop of blood has to be taken from the fingertip and smeared onto a slide covered by a glass plate. The patient can watch the examination on the connected display and thus get a picture of the fantastic processes constantly taking place in human blood. It is fascinating to observe all of the things going on in the body we normally know nothing about.
This dark field microscopy is suitable for prevention as well as for finding evidence of malfunctions and a lack of vitality. With the examination, we can also draw conclusions about the effectiveness of a therapy used to treat chronic illnesses and cancer. We are delighted that you are interested in this testing method and would be happy to demonstrate it to you. Have a look inside your own body!
Some patients use the images produced during the dark field microscopy for their visualization exercises, enabling them to effectively strengthen their self-healing powers.
By carrying out a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), we can quickly get a good picture of the composition of the human body.
This examination has become very widespread in the last thirty years as the measuring methodology has improved significantly and is easy to handle.
Today, thousands of publications in scientific journals deal with this test.
To assess the body’s state of health, the distribution of extra- and intercellular liquids, fat, and muscle mass is important. Shifts in the relationships between them enable us to make predictions about the person’s nutritional state abd certain metabolic functions before he or she loses a great deal of weight due to insufficient nourishment. The BIA analysis is extremely helpful for diagnosing the nutritional and functional condition of the body as well as for observing the course of illnesses and treatment.
The BIA measurement is a whole-body analysis. In certain cases, the results are compared with other diagnostic methods before a specific therapy is prescribed. Frequently, simple dietary changes can bring about improvements in the values quickly, motivating the patient to continue on this path. Physical training also usually leads to satisfactory improvements in the short term.
Health, wellbeing, and fitness are markedly influenced by the condition of the autonomic nervous system. The latter comprises the sympathetic system (our “internal accelerator”) and the parasympathetic system (our “internal brake”). The quality of our parasympathetic system is exceptionally important for our health, since our body’s ability to regenerate is greatly dependent on it. If our parasympathetic system, i.e. our inner brake, is unable to regulate our body, then chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer can develop. Our mental capacities also suffer: We become very sensitive to outside stress, are unbalanced, irritable, or become depressed.
Check the fitness of your autonomic nervous system with an HRV scan!
Heart rate variability is determined using an HRV scan (BioSign). This test is comparable with an ECG, although it is somewhat simpler to carry out. It takes just a few minutes, and the results can be calculated immediately and discussed with you there and then. We can tell you how flexibly your autonomic nervous system responds to everyday stresses and how well your “inner brake” is functioning.
What consequences might a poorly functioning “inner brake” have for you?
A poorly functioning “inner brake” is frequently the cause of chronic illnesses. External influences such as excessive stress, as well as neglect of the autonomic control system, can lead to premature aging of the parasympathetic system. Targeted strengthening of the parasympathetic system can slow down and even reverse this process. An improvement in control is almost always possible and should always be aimed for.
Ways to help strengthen the autonomic nervous system: breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and targeted exercises with technical equipment
The simplest way to train the parasympathetic system involves simple breathing exercises which are very easy to learn. Athletic activities, walking, gardening, etc. can have similar effects. There is also a range of special techniques which, adapted to the individual patient’s needs, can be integrated over the long term into the patient’s everyday activities. Ultimately, it is now also possible to train at the computer using suitable programs or even a hand-held device (e.g. a “Qiu”). We can help you find the right solution – talk to us today and make an appointment to take the test.
Infrared thermography has received a tremendous boost, particularly in recent years, thanks to considerable technological advances in this field. The firm Jenoptik, for example, now produces modern cameras with over 100,000 measuring points that are able to take incredibly precise thermal images of the entire surface of the body. This means that all kinds of diseases or functional disturbances relating to oncology, orthopedics, internal medicine, angiology, dental medicine, and so on can be diagnosed.
Mammovision: successful diagnosis of breast health problems to ongoing monitoring of breast cancer
We use infrared thermography for breast cancer screening and for ongoing monitoring of breast health problems, all the way to breast-cancer aftercare. Thermography has proven itself to be an important addition to and extension of sonography (ultrasound) and mammography. One great boon of this technology it does not cause any stress to the body and can be repeated at any time – it has no sideeffects whatsoever. Women of all ages, including pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, women with breast implants, as well as healthy individuals and sick ones, can all benefit from this gentle method.
A few preliminary conditions need to be borne in mind for this type of examination.
It should be noted that this investigation is best carried out in the morning in a moderately temperate room. No restrictive clothing should be worn beforehand, and moisturizing the body should be avoided, as should consumption of energy drinks such as coffee. The thermal imaging camera measures the temperature pattern of the skin of the unclothed upper body. Images need to be taken from three to five directions. The body then cools down at room temperature for ten minutes before a second series of images is taken. A diagnostic program then calculates the difference between the various measurement values.
The results are intended to help obtain important information about the health of your breasts.
Right after the procedure, we will discuss the results of the investigation with you. In any case, a diagnosis will help you improve your lifestyle and offer tips on how to improve your breast health if required. You can subsequently obtain a printout of the examination results for your family doctor or therapist.
Ideally, the investigations are carried out at intervals of one or two years, and of course more frequently in at-risk situations or as part of an aftercare program, for example for breast cancer.
Intestinal health is attracting more and more attention among both medical practitioners and the general public. This is understandable in light of the fact that a large part of the human immune system is directly connected with the functions of the digestive system. Digestive disorders can lead to many chronic illnesses in the medium to long term.
You are what you eat!
This maxim reflects the importance of nutrition for our health. In recent years, food intolerances have increased alarmingly. In this context, allergies where the allergic reaction occurs immediately have to be distinguished from allergies that trigger reactions only after many hours or days. The latter cannot be determined without further testing.
Stool and blood tests
We offer stool and blood examinations to test your intestinal health. Depending on the findings of examination, we may be able to provide you with medication or methods to strengthen your digestive system or enable you to overcome intolerances and allergies. As a result, the foundations will be laid for avoidance of many chronic illnesses.
For our OligoScan test, we use state-of-the-art technology that provides us with important diagnostic knowledge. The test is conducted with a portable spectrometer that is attached to a computer. In just a few minutes, we receive an analysis of the body’s mineral and trace-element reserves. In addition, statements can be made about burdens on the body caused by heavy metals and oxidative stress.
The results can provide us with important information about deficiencies or strains in the body, which can be balanced out with medical measures. Following treatment, this test can be repeated to objectify the body’s therapeutic response and physical reactions. The test is noninvasive and does not put a strain on the body.
A healthy balance of minerals and trace elements is extremely important for the body to function properly. Nutrition and a healthy metabolism are primarily responsible for maintaining this balance. Unphysiological burdens on the body caused by heavy metals are a common cause of oxidative stress, which is co-responsible for many chronic illnesses. These imbalances can be compensated.
